Markham Vale success continues throughout 2017
Henry Boot Developments completes circa 780,000 sq.ft of space in 2017

The completion of the 225,000 sq.ft unit for Ferdinand Bilstein UK in January not only marked the first completion of the year but also the first on the new Markham Vale North site. Following this, the second unit for Great Bear completed in July, again on the North, which totalled circa 480,000 sq.ft, taking Great Bear’s occupation at Markham Vale to over 1 million sq,ft, across the East and North sites.

The final unit to complete was for leading supply chain company Gist Limited, acquiring 90,760 sq.ft on Plot 16 on the North. The chilled warehouse and storage facility achieved practical completion in October 2017.

Alongside the three completions, Henry Boot Developments and Derbyshire County Council secured a deal for a 69,125 sq.ft unit, with the occupier to be announced soon,  which is currently under construction on Plot 13A of the North development and due to complete in July 2018.

Vivienne Clements, Director at Henry Boot Developments, commented on yet another strong year for Markham Vale. She said “We have been very busy in 2017 with three units under construction at Markham Vale North and all completing extremely quickly under tight lead times.

We have announced a fourth unit on the North site which is now underway and due to complete next Summer – leaving us with 22 acres on the North site, capable of sub-division to units from 15,000 – 300,00 sq.ft.

The progress we have made at Markham Vale has been phenomenal and we are looking forward to securing further occupiers for the remaining North and West land.”

Derbyshire County Council Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Regeneration Councillor Tony King said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Markham Vale.

“Driving economic growth and creating more job opportunities for local people are key priorities of ours and the site continues to play an important role in achieving this and boosting the local economy.

“We’re really pleased with the direction that the site is heading and we’re looking forward to welcoming even more businesses to the site next year.”
