Henry Boot Developments Limited has agreed terms to design, build and Lease a 50,000 sq. ft. unit for Gould Alloys at its significant Markham Vale development site in Derbyshire.

Markham Vale is a 200 acre business/industrial park located at Junction 29A of the M1 in Chesterfield.  The regionally significant site is a joint venture between Henry Boot Developments and Derbyshire County Council and is one of the UK’s biggest Enterprise Zone developments. Existing occupiers include Andrew Page, Holdsworth Foods, Ready Egg Products and Industrial Ancillaries.

Gould Alloys has secured ‘Plot 2’ which is located within the East part of the site providing direct access to the M1 Motorway.  Planning approval has already been secured to build a 43,000 sq. ft. warehouse/distribution facility plus 7,000 sq. ft. of office accommodation.  A number of sustainable features will be incorporated into the building including Photo Voltaic array panels and an air source heat pump.

Gould Alloys is a worldwide stockholder and distributor of metals to a number of industries including defence, medical and scientific, exploration and production, motor sport and power generation.  It is a key supplier to the aerospace industry where it delivers ‘first stage’ machining and is a founding member of the Aero Metals Alliance (AMA).

The £20 million turnover business is currently located at Carwood Industrial Park in Chesterfield but plans to move to Markham Vale to benefit from better logistics.

“We needed to relocate to assist better utilisation of space but were keen to remain in the local area so that we could retain all existing staff.  We also needed a site that was away from residential areas due to the volume of deliveries.  Markham Vale ticked all the right boxes offering essential access to the motorway network and an opportunity to design and build to our exact specification.  No other location in the area was able to facilitate our needs so precisely.”

Work is expected to start on site in September 2014 and Gould Alloys hopes to be operational by Easter 2015.

Markham Vale offers a diverse range of industrial, warehouse and office accommodation ranging from 3,000 sq ft units to over 1 million sq ft.  Buildings are available on freehold or leasehold terms, to suit occupier requirements.
