Work on Markham Vale’s newest available building, MV55, has this week completed. It brings the total amount of space built at the flagship industrial scheme to just under 2,000,000 sq ft.
A 200-acre industrial and logistics development located at Junction 29A of the M1 in Derbyshire, Markham Vale is a joint venture between Henry Boot Developments (HBD) and Derbyshire County Council.
A testament to the success of the regeneration of the former colliery site, is that more people are now employed at the site than when it was a working coal mine.
MV55 is a 55,000 sq ft warehouse, built specifically to meet market demand. Located in a highly prominent position fronting the M1, it includes flexible open plan office space, coupled with a high-quality floor space suitable for companies specialising in manufacturing or distribution. The unit benefits from 50 on-site parking spaces with the ability to add more if required.
Anthony Clitheroe, Regional Manager at HBD, said: “MV55 has been built to meet occupiers needs, based on our experience from delivering over 30 units at Markham Vale. Our units are developed to meet the highest specification, ensuring their energy and maintenance running costs are low.
“There is an acute shortage of good quality industrial space across Yorkshire and the East Midlands markets, particularly for buildings between 20,000 sq ft and 100,000 sq ft, resulting in a high degree of demand for new-build product like MV55.
“We like this unit so much we’ve chosen to retain it as part of our portfolio, but are keen to speak to prospective tenants who want to benefit from the high specification and visibility it provides.”
Derbyshire County Council Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Regeneration, Councillor Tony King, said: “We’re delighted that work has completed on this latest development at our flagship regeneration site, Markham Vale.
“Supporting businesses and bringing quality jobs to Derbyshire are key priorities of ours and we look forward to welcoming a new company into this space very soon.”
