Protec International grows with new Markham Vale base
Protec International is to open a new site and create 20 new jobs, taking 52,500 sq ft at Markham Vale, Derbyshire County Council’s and Henry Boot Developments’ (HBD) flagship regeneration site.
Markham Vale is a 200-acre industrial and logistics development located at Junction 29A of the M1 in Derbyshire, a joint venture between HBD and Derbyshire County Council. It offers a unique opportunity for businesses looking for direct motorway access coupled with high-quality, purpose-built premises.
Protec International is the leading supplier of LPCB approved flame retardant temporary protection materials to the construction and house building sectors. Its new premises covers 5.39 acres, offering the potential for further expansion. The unit will comprise 50,000 sq ft warehouse space and 2,500 sq ft offices, along with 35 car parking spaces.
Protec International is the latest company to take space at Markham Vale, joining existing occupiers including Great Bear, Gist and Ferdinand Bilstein UK.
Andrew Priestley, Development Surveyor at HBD, said: “Demand has remained robust at Markham Vale, led largely by its unrivalled transport links and proven success as a top-flight industrial location. We’ve no doubt that Markham Vale will prove an excellent location for Protec International, supporting its continued growth while creating valuable new jobs.”
Stephen Cox, Managing Director of Protec International, said: “Markham Vale offers the ideal location for our business, particularly given the high quality currently available on the market. The initial phase will create up to 20 new jobs and plans for the second phase could add a further 20-25 across manufacturing and warehousing disciplines. The site provides the full package and we look forward to moving in next year.”
Derbyshire County Council Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Regeneration Councillor Tony King said: “We’re delighted to welcome Protec International to Markham Vale. They’ll be a fantastic addition to the site’s growing family of businesses and it’s great to hear that the firm are looking to create up to 20 new jobs for local people too.
“Markham’s excellent location continues to attract a range of small, medium and large businesses that can be local, national and international and we’re really pleased it continues to move from strength to strength.”
Plots of up to 15 acres remain available at Markham Vale and can accommodate flexible design and build unit options from 15,000 to 300,000 sq ft.
